Basic Qualifications:

  • Demonstratable experience in User Experience & User-Centred Design 
  • Experience in performing user research, experience design (interaction design, information architecture, visual design, etc) and usability testing 
  • Knowledge of the software design and delivery process (both analytical and technical) 
  • Strong analytical and observational skills with a demonstration of creative approaches to problem solving 
  • Strong visual and verbal communication skills 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in working in Enterprise UX & Design 
  • Experience in service design and design thinking processes 
  • Awareness of the life science industry 
  • Proficiency in standard UX and design tools

The Senior UX Designer will play an important part in enabling our Product Teams to deliver intuitive, efficient, effective and satisfying experiences to our R&D customers. 

As part of our central UX & Design Team, the Senior UX Designer will utilise their passion for Experience Design and Service Design to provide coaching and guidance to Product Teams in how to perform UX and Design activities. They will also plan, facilitate and run activities for key projects, whilst providing direction to Product Teams to ensure they continue to focus on the needs and goals of their end users. 

This role will provide YOU the opportunity to lead key activities to progress YOUR career. These responsibilities include some of the following: 

  • Aligning to specific Tech product areas to act as the UX specialist with the product teams and helping define the UX roadmap for these product areas, influencing product owners through proactive user knowledge and collaboration
  • Providing UX coaching and guidance to product teams, focusing on user research, user centred design and usability testing, amongst other UX activities; embedding and promoting user-centred analysis, experience and service design across R&D Tech, through the user of social media, intranet, case studies, webinars, etc.
  • Coaching or facilitating UX Service Design events in partnership with product teams, hosting workshops or design thinking sessions 
  • Performing User Research through standard UX processes, including persona/user journey creation, quantitative data analysis and usability testing, on behalf of product teams and R&D user groups to capture user goals, needs and expectations
  • Driving Experience Design activities, improving UI designs through wireframing, mock-ups and prototypes; writing up UX reports capturing findings from UX activities and heuristic evaluations
  • Appling quantitative & qualitative measurement techniques, dashboards & tools to demonstrate improvements to KPI’s and metrics and move the dial on UX excellence 
  • Maintaining the UX Suites, facilitating UX sessions and helping run these physical spaces as valued environments for R&D Tech 
  • Engaging with other Tech groups to support the maturity of UX and Design across GSK, specifically working with other UX practitioners as part of the GSK UX & Design Guild
  • Keeping up with trends in UI design and UX practices, including mobile, wearables and social media
