Summary: The Lead Frontend React position focuses on leading the development and delivery of high-quality web applications within the Business Services Digital team. This role is integral to the team, which supports global banking services, and aims to enhance front-end engineering standards through strong mentorship and best practices.
Main Responsibilities:
- Lead the design, development, and implementation of web applications using React, TypeScript, and modern front-end tools.
- Take ownership of software delivery and application support across the full development lifecycle.
- Guide and mentor developers; promote knowledge sharing and team growth.
- Define and enforce best practices for code quality, testing, accessibility, and performance.
- Collaborate with backend developers, product managers, QA, and UX teams.
- Manage and coordinate software releases, ensuring on-time and on-budget delivery.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to productivity, quality, and system maintainability.
- Ensure compliance with development methodologies and risk controls.
Key Requirements:
- Proven track record delivering modern, responsive web applications in a leadership or senior engineering role.
- Strong hands-on experience with React.js, JavaScript, and TypeScript.
- Proficiency in HTML5, CSS3, and preprocessors such as SASS or Less.
- Experience working on pixel-perfect UI, responsive design for desktop and mobile, and adherence to accessibility and cross-browser standards.
- Familiarity with front-end testing frameworks, including Jest and React Testing Library.
- Experience managing version control with Git and working in IDEs such as VSCode or IntelliJ.
- Solid understanding of JSON and XML for data marshalling/de-marshalling.
Nice to Have:
- Knowledge of Node.js and Express for backend integration.
- Experience in onboarding/banking applications or digital product design in the financial domain.
- Understanding of lean, pragmatic development principles in Agile environments.
