Purpose of the role
To design, develop and improve software, utilising various engineering methodologies, that provides business, platform, and technology capabilities for our customers and colleagues.
Accountabilities
- Development and delivery of high-quality software solutions by using industry aligned programming languages, frameworks, and tools. Ensuring that code is scalable, maintainable, and optimized for performance.
- Cross-functional collaboration with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define software requirements, devise solution strategies, and ensure seamless integration and alignment with business objectives.
- Collaboration with peers, participation in code reviews, and promotion of a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing.
- Adherence to secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities, protect sensitive data, and ensure secure software solutions.
- Implementation of effective unit testing practices to ensure proper code design, readability, and reliability.

For this apprenticeship opportunity you’ll need a minimum of 104 points at A2 (grades BCC) or an equivalent, e.g. BTEC DMM, plus GCSE Mathematics and English Language (grade A*-C / 9-4) or equivalent. Beyond that though, we’re also looking for commitment and enthusiasm. You must meet the Government's apprentice funding requirements. You must also have the legal right to work for the full duration of the programme at the point of enrolment, with no gaps in your legal right to work or dependency on future visa applications during the period of your apprenticeship (August 2027 to August 2031). You must also not have undertaken any previous study, education, training, qualifications, or apprenticeship, gained learning or competence from prior work experience, or received prior funding or financial support which renders you ineligible for the Government’s apprentice funding.
