iOS Software Engineer

About the role

We are looking for an iOS Software Engineer to help build the mobile experience of an AI-powered product. In this role, you'll be responsible for how AI interactions look, feel and perform on iOS devices. This is a hands-on product engineering position — AI is a core part of the application, so you'll be solving challenges around responsiveness, reliability, performance and user trust rather than simply connecting an app to backend services. You'll work closely with backend and ML engineers to turn AI capabilities into a polished, production-ready iOS experience.

What you'll do

• Build and maintain production iOS applications using Swift and SwiftUI
• Integrate AI-powered functionality through backend APIs
• Design mobile interaction patterns for AI, including streaming responses, loading states, retries and fallback behaviour
• Improve application performance, memory consumption and battery efficiency
• Capture user feedback and behavioural signals to support AI evaluation and product iteration
• Collaborate with backend and ML teams on API design and overall system behaviour
• Maintain a high standard of App Store quality, stability and production reliability

You'll join a small, high-talent-density and hands-on team working on an ambitious AI product. The team combines rapid execution with high engineering standards and continuous learning. Decisions are made collaboratively, while engineers are expected to take ownership, bring structure to ambiguous problems and exercise independent technical judgment. The goal is to build an AI product that feels genuinely useful and natural to interact with — with the reliability and quality required for everyday use at scale.

What success looks like

You'll help ensure that the iOS application provides a reliable and polished experience in real-world usage. Success means: * The application remains stable, smooth and dependable * AI interactions feel responsive, with low latency and appropriate handling of loading or partial results * Memory, CPU and battery usage are efficiently managed * Production problems are identified early through effective monitoring * Issues are investigated systematically and resolved by addressing their underlying causes * The application consistently meets a high standard of quality for iOS users

What we're looking for

We're looking for someone with: * 3+ years of professional iOS development experience using Swift * Hands-on experience integrating AI-powered functionality into mobile applications * Strong knowledge of async/await, concurrency and background tasks * Solid experience with iOS performance and memory optimisation * A track record of shipping and maintaining production iOS applications * The ability to design for environments involving latency, partial failures and non-deterministic AI behaviour * Exposure to Core ML or lightweight on-device machine learning * Familiarity with feature flags or remote configuration mechanisms * Strong product intuition around AI interaction patterns and user trust
