Meet the team behind this journey

DeepL is not just a translation tool; we are building the Operating System for Global Communication. We are the rare AI company that builds the entire stack in-house: from training next-gen LLMs on our own NVIDIA DGX SuperPODs to delivering real-time Language AI to over 300 million users and 200,000+ businesses globally.

You will join the Identity and Access Management team. Owning DeepL's full identity stack: organisation, account and session management, SSO federation, SCIM provisioning, and the OIDC provider, for both internal and external users. It is the foundation every DeepL product relies on to authenticate and authorise users securely and at scale. We are shifting gears from "Software-First" to "Product-First." You will contribute across the stack, shipping features that create delightful, frictionless experiences for both external developers and internal engineering teams.

Your responsibilities

  • Own the Identity Experience End-to-End: You will architect and build complex, user-facing features across our identity stack. You will own business-critical systems from the initial problem definition through to architectural design, deployment, and production reliability.
  • Build for "Consumer-Grade" Enterprise: You understand that authentication and authorization systems cannot fail. You build for reliability and maintainability, while delivering a user-friendly experience. You will lead incident response, and continuously raise the bar on code quality and operational health.
  • Collaborate to Raise the Bar: You will work closely with teammates across Identity and adjacent teams - other product teams, Product Management and Support. You will lead designs, scoping, shaping, and solving hard product and technical challenges in collaboration with your team and other engineers.
  • Drive Technical Pragmatism: Whether using our core stack (C#/.NET Core, Kubernetes, Postgres) or exploring new tools, you choose the technology that solves the customer problem most effectively, ensuring long-term maintainability over short-term trends. You use AI for boilerplate code, test generation, and debugging, allowing you to focus your cognitive energy on high-value architectural decisions and complex problem-solving.

What we offer

  • Diverse and internationally distributed team: Joining our team means becoming part of a large, global community with people of more than 90 nationalities.
  • Open communication, regular feedback: We value smooth collaboration, direct and actionable feedback, and believe that leading with empathy and growth mindset makes us better together.
  • Hybrid work, flexible hours: We offer a hybrid work schedule, with team members coming into the office twice a week. With flexible working hours and trust in your productivity, we are in sync with your team’s general locations and time zones.
  • Virtual Shares: An ownership mindset in every role. Every employee receives Virtual Shares, linking your contribution directly to DeepL’s growth.
  • Regular in-person team events: We bond over vibrant events that are as unique as our team, from local team and business unit gatherings, to new-joiner onboardings, to company-wide events.
  • Monthly full-day hacking sessions: Every month, we have Hack Fridays, where you can spend your time diving into a project you're passionate about and get the opportunity to work with other teams.
  • 30 days of annual leave: With 30 days off (excluding public holidays) and access to mental health resources, we make sure you're as strong mentally as you are professionally.
  • Competitive benefits: We've crafted our benefits package to reflect the diversity of our team and tailored it to align with your unique location.

Qualities we look for

  • Extreme Ownership & Operational Excellence: You own your services end-to-end (production operations, incident response, and on-call) and you're motivated by pushing reliability toward four nines. You write comprehensive tests, monitor the systems in production, and you treat each incident as an opportunity to learn.
  • A "System Thinker" Mindset: You don't just know syntax; you understand failure modes, system boundaries, and how your code impacts the broader architecture at scale. You can design systems that deliver high availability for our millions of users.
  • Backend Mastery at Scale (C# / .NET): You have deep expertise designing scalable backend systems and distributed architectures, and you've worked with high-scale distributed systems in production. Roughly 80-90% of the work is backend; working on the frontend (React/Javascript) is a welcome plus, not a requirement.
  • Enterprise Domain Curiosity: You are interested in the hard problems of B2B SaaS Identity - authentication (SSO/OIDC), authorization, and requirements such as security and auditing.
  • AI-Native Velocity: You leverage AI-powered tools (like GitHub Copilot or Claude) to accelerate your velocity and eliminate repetitive toil.
