We are looking for a Business Analyst - Treasury for our client, one of the world's largest natural resource companies. The successful candidate will support a strategic payment messaging transformation initiative, focused on migrating legacy payment formats (e.g., MT101) to the ISO 20022 standard (pain.001).

This is a hybrid Business Analyst and Testing Coordinator role, requiring a strong understanding of payment processes, messaging standards, and file-based integrations. The person will work closely with an existing Treasury SME, supporting the analysis of bank specifications, documenting business and technical requirements, coordinating testing activities, and validating payment message transformations.

The ideal candidate will be comfortable acting as the bridge between business stakeholders, banks, and development teams, ensuring that payment file changes are correctly identified, documented, tested, and successfully implemented. The role is highly data-driven and requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work with structured XML-based payment messages and SWIFT standards.

This is a project-based engagement running until the end of the current calendar year, supporting a critical payment migration initiative. While the current scope is planned through year-end, there is a possibility of extension depending on project progress, business priorities, and future customer demand.

  • Analyse existing payment processes and support the migration from legacy payment formats (e.g., MT101) to ISO 20022 messaging standards (pain.001, pacs, camt)
  • Understand payment lifecycles, payment channels, and banking file formats to identify required changes and migration impacts
  • Review and interpret ISO 20022 specifications provided by banking partners, assessing differences between current and target message structures
  • Gather, analyse, and document business, functional, and technical requirements for development teams
  • Prepare detailed mapping documentation, file format specifications, and transformation logic supporting implementation activities
  • Coordinate and execute testing activities, including unit, integration, and end-to-end payment validation scenarios
  • Prepare payment files for testing, submit them through test channels, and validate processing results, acknowledgements, and rejection messages
  • Verify message translation accuracy, data integrity, and compliance with banking specifications
  • Identify, document, prioritize, and track defects, gaps, and remediation activities throughout the project lifecycle
  • Collaborate closely with Treasury, business stakeholders, developers, QA teams, and external banking partners to ensure successful delivery
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of requirements, test cases, issue logs, and implementation decisions

MUST
  • 5+ years of experience as a Business Analyst, Payments Analyst, Treasury Analyst, or similar role
  • Strong understanding of payment processing, payment lifecycles, and banking integrations
  • Practical experience with payment messaging standards, including SWIFT MT messages and ISO 20022 formats (pain, pacs, camt)
  • Ability to read, analyse, and interpret bank implementation guides and payment specifications
  • Experience documenting business requirements, functional specifications, file mappings, and transformation logic
  • Hands-on experience with testing activities, including creation and execution of unit, integration, and end-to-end test scenarios
  • Knowledge of XML structures and data-driven integration processes
  • Strong analytical skills with exceptional attention to detail
  • Ability to coordinate activities across business and technical teams, acting as a liaison between multiple stakeholders
  • Experience working in Agile delivery environments
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • English: C1 Advanced
NICE TO HAVE
  • Experience with Treasury Management Systems (TMS) or enterprise payment platforms
  • Exposure to commodity trading, finance, or corporate treasury environments
  • Experience supporting payment migration or banking transformation projects
  • Familiarity with payment gateways, host-to-host integrations, and banking connectivity solutions
  • Basic SQL or data analysis skills for payment validation and reconciliation
  • Experience working with developers and QA teams in complex enterprise environments
  • Exposure to automation or AI-assisted analysis and documentation tools
