The Software Systems Engineer develops, modifies and codes software systems programming applications. Responsible for evaluating and preparing system engineering and technical analyses; documents, proposals for change, and other technical documentation.

General Responsibilities

  • Key participant in the development of end-user tools for data analysis, reporting and work flow processes with database communication
  • Collaborate on analyzing the existing software and improving the processes
  • Organize the Design and Test Lab departments on requirements of new functionality
  • Key participant in integration of in-house software for our test equipment
  • Taking part in on-site software debugging, machines further adaptation and optimization

The ideal candidate will design, develop, test, and maintain software solutions that enhance our global manufacturing processes and systems. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure that our software solutions are efficient, reliable, and scalable to meet the needs of a dynamic manufacturing environment.

General Responsibilities

  • Software Development: Design, develop, and maintain software applications and systems used in manufacturing processes, ensuring they meet quality and performance standards.
  • Automation and Integration: Work closely with automation engineers to integrate software solutions with hardware and machinery, enhancing production efficiency and reducing downtime.
  • Process Improvement: Analyze manufacturing workflows and identify opportunities for automation and process optimization through software solutions.
  • System Support and Maintenance: Provide ongoing support and troubleshooting for manufacturing software systems, including diagnosing and resolving issues to ensure minimal disruption to production.
  • Data Management: Develop and maintain databases and software solutions for data collection, analysis, and reporting to support decision-making in manufacturing operations.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with manufacturing engineers, quality assurance teams, project managers and other stakeholders to ensure software solutions meet the specific needs of manufacturing processes.
  • Documentation: Create and maintain detailed technical documentation for software applications, including user manuals, system architecture diagrams, and support guides.
  • Compliance and Standards: Ensure that all software solutions comply with industry standards, company policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Training and Support: Provide training and support to manufacturing staff on the use of new software tools and systems.

Experience / Qualifications

  • A university degree required (i.e. Bachelors degree) or equivalent relevant work experience.

Essential Criteria:

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field. A Master’s degree is a plus.
  • 3-5 years of experience in software development, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proven experience with programming languages such as C# .NET, JavaScript, VB

Technical Skills

  • Strong knowledge of software development life cycle (SDLC) methodologies.
  • Proficiency in software design patterns, algorithms, and data structures.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing execution systems (MES) and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
  • Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and agile development practices.
  • Experience with database management systems (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle).

Soft Skills:

  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing principles or Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Familiarity with Internet of Things (IoT) solutions and their application in manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity practices in an industrial setting.
  • Certification in relevant software development or manufacturing technologies
  • Experience and understanding of SQL Database Migration, Restoration and Maintenance
  • Experience with data transformation and ETL (Extract Transform Load) processed.
  • Experience with PLC programming, SCADA systems, or other industrial automation software is highly desirable.
  • Understanding of industrial communication protocols (e.g., OPC, Modbus, Ethernet/IP)
