Data Platform Engineer

You are a data and technology wizard. You have in-depth knowledge of operating a data analytics and data processing platform, data engineering and scripting. You are able to apply these techniques in practice. You know which data solutions are available and widely used. Market developments have your specific interest and you know how to translate these into our environment. Your goal is to deliver a state-of-the-art data platform to all of our business users.
What you are going to do
- Working closely with a talented team of data engineers, application developers and data analysts/scientists to solve important and complex challenges
- Working on Data Transformation in the NN Re Data Analytics platform build on Azure and Databricks
- Pro-actively enhance the infrastructures availability and stability, which includes monitoring and reliability management tasks and develop and deploy automations through CI/CD pipelines on Azure Cloud
- Carry out Operations & Service Delivery including Change Management, Configuration Management, Life-cycle Management (LCM), and solving complex incidents and problems
- Implement data lineage tracking, audit logging, and access monitoring, ensuring transparency and compliance
- Build ADF pipelines and spark / python / yaml notebooks
- Documenting and communicating your findings as well as sharing best practices within the team
We work hybrid at NN. Together with your team, you decide where, how and when you work. The official location of this job is Den Haag.
NN Re is the reinsurance company of NN Group. With 60 people from 30 nationalities we reinsure and hedge large amounts of premiums. NN Re wants to become a fully data driven company and is currently building a state of the art data analytics platform (ReDAP) in Microsoft Azure.
As Data Engineer you work in the IT team and report to the Head of IT. The IT team consists of 9 professionals. They all have their own specific knowledge besides the basics. The atmosphere is informal, we love results and like teamwork. Every week we have Learn, Build and Share sessions.
The IT team supports the Reinsurance Solutions, Hedging Solutions, Capital Management & Finance and Financial Risk Management departments of NN Re. You work closely together with our data engineer and data analysts. By joining the overall NN data engineering guild you will keep in touch with your peers in other business units.

- Salary between €4,827 and €6,895 depending on your knowledge and experience, based on a 36 hours work week, excluding 13th month and holiday allowance

Who you are
- You have a HBO/WO degree in software engineering, data science, computer science, math or equivalent
- You are a team player
- You have proven experience in operating a Databricks platform in Azure Cloud and ADF
- You have a minimum of 3 years working experience in data solutions, data engineering and creating notebooks using python or (py)spark
- You have strong analytical skills
