The Opportunity
In the role of a Data Engineering Application Engineer, you will contribute to Hitachi Energy’s Network Control projects abroad. Network Control Systems are advanced real-time systems for managing operations in a modern control center. Our team works with customers who operate critical infrastructure—primarily power grid operators, as well as multi-utility providers for gas, water, and district heating. These systems are the foundation of modern society – making reliability and quality essential properties of our work. Our software platform enables our customers to monitor and control their networks efficiently, ensuring high availability and operational excellence.
How You’ll Make an Impact
In your role you are accountable for the following activities:
- You independently handle Network Control projects, with focus on the handling of our customer’s data in respect to their network model and process communication
- You implement customer requirements precisely within technical solution concepts
- You collect, analyze, map, clean and maintain customer data, and deploy it into Hitachi Energy’s Software products
- You configure and develop the database of our customers
- You build displays in the Hitachi Energy Graphical User Interface
- You conduct system testing, both at the factory and at site by systematically documenting the results especially related to database and graphics
- You support our customers with installed systems by verifying and providing solutions to technical issues reported by our customers.
- You support the sales department in finding solutions and preparing offers
General willingness for temporary assignments in our global partner units (e.g. in the context of a time-limited exchange of up to half a year) desired
Your background
- Successfully completed bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering, electrical power engineering or comparable technical understanding of SCADA solutions, database engineering and Network Control products
- English fluently spoken and written
- German or French fluently spoken and written is a plus, but not a must
- Independent and proactive way of working as well as willingness to take responsibility
- Communication skills combined with high customer orientation
- Interest in international and cross-cultural cooperation and willingness to travel worldwide
Your Skills
- Oracle and PL/SQL knowledge is necessary, and advanced knowledge is an advantage.
- Ability to fetch, modify and deploy data by writing complex SQL statements and scripts
- Basic knowledge of any high-level programming language with an experience to use debuggers
- Any in-depth scripting knowledge
- Knowledge of power applications
- Structured way of working with eye to detail and good documentation
- Problem-solving oriented mindset with focus on quality and on-time delivery
