As a Test Automation Architect, you will be responsible for the development and maintenance of automated testing frameworks that underpin the scripting of automated tests. In addition, you will support QA Engineers in the development of complex automation scenarios, as well as in debugging challenging automation issues. The role also involves researching industry best practices, tools, and emerging trends, and applying them within the team. As the technical lead for the operational automation teams onshore and offshore, you will maintain oversight of automation progress and report on it to the respective project managers.

How you will get the job done 

  • participating in the project initiation phase BIC to assess the potential, costs, and effort for test automation
  • supporting Test Managers and QA Engineers in selecting tools and defining a cohesive test automation strategy that aligns with business goals and system architecture
  • designing, building, and maintaining scalable and flexible test automation frameworks, compliant with the latest market standards
  • mentoring and supporting QA Engineers in complex scripting scenarios and debugging code errors, as well as elevating their competencies
  • analyzing and implementing industry best practices, tools, and methodologies (e.g., Shift-Left Testing, BDD/TDD, CI/CD integration)
  • collaborating closely with developers and software architects to ensure that the created applications are testable at the code and architectural level
  • collaborating with other test architects, both locally and globally, to ensure unified and consistent automation practices
  • defining and implementing key performance indicators (KPIs) in the area of test automation, consistent with internal standards
  • supervising the measurement of test metrics and providing reports that offer strategic insight into product quality
  • being responsible for the development and support of existing automation frameworks (e.g., using Playwright, Cypress, Selenium, and other tools)
  • providing project consultancy on test automation and verifying the readiness of manual tests for automation
  • providing strategic guidance on test automation for mobile applications (native and hybrid) and cross-platform web solutions

  • fluency in English
  • higher education (Bachelor’s or Master’s degree) in fields such as Computer Science, Automation and Robotics, Mathematics, or other STEM disciplines
  • minimum 5 years of experience in implementing test automation frameworks, tools, and practices
  • minimum 5 years of experience in debugging automation code and solving complex technical problems
  • extensive, experience-backed participation in the entire Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and defining the scope of regression tests for medium and large-scale projects
  • practical experience with a wide range of test automation frameworks and tools, including those for web (Robot Framework, Playwright, Cypress, Selenium) and mobile applications (Appium) 
  • proficiency in at least one scripting/object-oriented language (e.g., TypeScript, Python, or JavaScript)
  • deep knowledge of software and system architecture (e.g., monoliths, microservices, web and mobile applications)
  • experience working in Agile methodologies (e.g., SAFe) and with distributed teams
  • ISTQB Foundation Level, ISTQB Advanced Test Automation Engineer or other, additional certifications (e.g., in CI/CD, cloud computing – AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform, or agile methodologies)
