Role Overview

Senior Golang Developer needed on a contract basis for a 3-6 month contract. Open to remote across Europe.

In this role, you'll lead the design and development of high-performance services, utilizing technologies like Kotlin, Android, Golang, and Docker across websites, apps, microservices, and event-driven architectures. You'll play a key part in shaping our technical direction, collaborating closely with engineering and product managers on new capabilities. Beyond technical ownership, you'll guide and mentor fellow engineers, fostering a strong engineering community and removing technical blockers. We're looking for someone passionate about delivering robust solutions, owning the entire Software Development Lifecycle, and embodying best practices in secure design.

What You’ll Be Doing:

Core Responsibilities & Technical Leadership:

  • Lead the design and development of large-scale, high-performance services, including websites, apps, microservices, and event-driven architectures, utilizing technologies such as Kotlin, Android, Golang, and Docker.
  • Collaboratively contribute to the design, support, and evolution of our services and internal frameworks.
  • Actively participate in research, scoping, and planning activities for the development of new domain and platform capabilities, working closely with engineering and product managers.
  • Analyze existing operations to identify risks and redundancies, conducting comprehensive assessments to develop robust solutions.

Team & Community Impact:

  • Guide, support, and enable high performance within your team by providing technical knowledge, innovative ideas, and mentorship.
  • Act as a technical role model, embodying the standards and principles that drive our development practices.
  • Remove technical blockers for fellow developers by providing direct support or connecting them with the right resources.
  • Mentor fellow engineers and actively promote the engineering community of practice through its programs and events.

Key Skills & Mindset:

  • Possess a good understanding of the top 10 OWASP principles, with demonstrable experience in secure design and build.
  • Exhibit a passion for delivering end-to-end solutions, owning the entire Software Development Lifecycle.
  • Display empathy and understanding in supporting colleagues to achieve their goals and team deliverables.
What We Want From You:
  • The ability to produce high-quality code in modern programming languages such as Go (Golang), Node.js, and TypeScript.
  • Extensive experience with JavaScript, including the Node.js ecosystem, REST, Mono repositories, GitHub Actions, GraphQL or tRPC APIs, and React with hooks and redux.
  • Experience with NoSQL databases, preferably MongoDB Atlas.
  • Proficiency in AWS services, including AWS Lambda, Terraform, and CloudWatch, is required.
  • Expertise in engineering practices, including architectural principles, software design, security, cloud infrastructure, CI/CD, and a bonus for knowledge of relevant hardware.
  • A self-driven attitude with a focus on continuous improvement and leadership within your team and division. Experience in mentoring and guiding peers is highly valued.
  • Strong support for agile/lean delivery methodologies, with a default approach to Test-Driven Development (TDD) and Pair Programming.
  • A passion for delivering customer-centric solutions, owning the entire Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), and adhering to DevSecOps principles.
  • Experience in building RESTful APIs, understanding authentication & authorization mechanisms, and microservices web development.
  • A continuous desire to enhance your knowledge and explore emerging technologies, demonstrating a commitment to staying at the forefront of tech advancements.
