Our team is responsible for developing software running on majority of Akamai switches and routers. We are also involved in creating monitoring and configuration systems for modern network topologies in datacenters.
As a participant in our program, you will gain valuable experience and contribute through meaningful project work. You will have the opportunity to join us for training, networking events, and engagements with company leadership. Our internships are open to students and graduates.

Partner with the best
As a Computer Networks Software Engineer Intern, you'll participate in the full software development life cycle. You will work on big and small projects, building innovative technologies from scratch in areas such as advanced Network Monitoring and Network Operating Systems for switches and routers.
Responsibilities
- Designing, developing, testing and deploying highly scalable and secure software for Network Monitoring and Network Operating Systems
- Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure effective communication and code development
- Contributing to internal research processes, methodologies, and approaches to create and share best practices
- Testing and monitoring software performance within the Akamai system
- Learning about our distributed systems, products, and the technical stack as necessary for your role
Do what you love
To be successful in this role you will:
- Have experience with one or more of the following languages: C, C++, Python, Golang, Bash
- Have hands-on experience with Linux environment
- Have knowledge about Computer Networks (routing, switching)
- Understand agile software development lifecycle
- Have good written and verbal English communication skills
Work in a way that works for you
Our 6-month interm program starts in July. The program requires you to be available 40 hours per week during summer months (July-September). We offer the opportunity to work part-time during the academic year (October-December). This is a flexible role and may be performed at your home and/or the local Akamai office (in the country advertised).
