About the project:

The Workspace engineer will be supporting the operational delivery of the BANK Virtual Desktop Estate and its associated services. This role has a key focus on assisting with the technical delivery of strategic projects, in addition to ongoing operational support of services.

This role is for a EUC-focused technology specialist with exceptional technical skills to join a highly driven, motivated, and skilled third-line team, supporting a Virtualised Desktop environment/platform comprising multiple technologies/products.

Agility, customer-centricity, and creativity will be critical for the successful candidate to fit into the organization. The Citrix Engineer performs a wide variety of evaluations, maintenance, installation, and training tasks to ensure the enterprise Citrix systems and infrastructure-related equipment meet company and user satisfaction.

This combined with a large project pipeline, will allow someone with the right skills to have exposure to both BAU and project work. The environment is fast-paced and allows huge exposure to the latest technologies, coupled with the ability to be involved with the planning, design, and commissioning, of new and existing requirements.

This is a role where knowledge is openly shared and solutions are driven as a team. Open communication is a key and the candidate should excel at communication skills and have great attention to detail.

Within the role you will provide 3rd line support, infrastructure delivery, BAU, and project-based work across the enterprise. You will support IT incidents, effectively managing technical and business-based communication and ensuring that route cause analysis and effective resolution are delivered. You will enable infrastructure strategy to be realized via information and knowledge sharing with other infrastructure team members as well as architects.

This is a 3rd / 4th line role, this is not a generalised support role, therefore the individual must be able to lead initiatives and pieces of work allocated to them. We need some with freeform thinking as this will not be task orientated. It is an opportunity for someone to add real value and benefit to an existing team.

These candidates must be a Desktop and Application Delivery SME and should have a combination of technical, interpersonal, and organisational skills. Key skills should include;

Technical Proficiency

  • In-depth knowledge of desktop and application delivery technologies, such as virtualisation, Citrix, VMware, and application packaging

Customer Service

  • Strong communication skills for interacting with a large customer base, understanding their needs, and providing effective solutions

  • Understanding of security best practices in desktop and application delivery to ensure data integrity and protection

Adaptability

  • Given the evolving tech landscape, staying updated and adapting to new technologies is crucial

  • Effective collaboration with cross-functional teams, including developers, system administrators, and other IT professionals

Troubleshooting Skills

  • Proficient in identifying and resolving complex issues related to desktop and application delivery systems

Deployment and Configuration

  • Expertise in deploying and configuring desktop environments and applications efficiently

Scripting and Automation

  • Ability to write scripts and automate processes, enhancing efficiency and reducing manual tasks

Networking Skills

  • Understanding of networking concepts, protocols, and configurations relevant to desktop and application delivery

Security Awareness

  • Knowledge of security best practices to ensure secure desktop and application delivery, including data protection and access controls

Customer-Focused Communication

  • Strong communication skills to interact effectively with clients, understanding their requirements, and providing solutions

Project Management

  • Ability to manage projects, including planning, execution, and coordination with various teams to meet project goals and deadlines

Vendor Management

  • Experience in working with vendors, evaluating technologies, and making informed recommendations

Documentation

  • Thorough documentation skills for creating guides, manuals, and knowledge base articles to facilitate training and troubleshooting

Analytical Thinking

  • Analysing performance metrics, identifying areas for improvement, and optimising desktop and application delivery systems

Training and Mentoring

  • Ability to train and mentor junior staff, sharing knowledge and fostering skill development within the team
