Our client is a leading global Financial Market data provider who runs a number of change programs to deliver high-quality software that connects Financial Markets across the globe in a real-time, high frequency, and low-latency data management chain. We are looking for a System Engineer who will participate in the analysis, definition, design, construction, testing, installation, and modification of medium to large infrastructures.
The position provides Linux-centric engineering, Automation, Virtualization, and Solace solutions supporting Realtime Development environments.
- Works closely with planning and technology architect to assure all systems are in line with IT long-term strategy.
- Participates in project planning sessions with team members to analyze requirements and provide design recommendations for complex systems.
- Conducts unit testing and implements cross-functional systems ensuring system fits the needs of client and business.
- Works with project teams to define and design the scope for each project.
- Develops new cross-functional software systems using disciplined software development processes.
- Provides design recommendations, develops application and custom integration solutions including major enhancements
- Responsible for writing complex design specifications.
- Collaborates in setting development guidelines.
- Prepares and presents status updates for various projects.
- Reviews efforts to ensure compliance with application architecture standards.
- Researches new and emerging technologies.
- Evaluates and makes recommendations for new tools, technologies, and platforms to be implemented.
- Provides technical leadership, coaching, and mentoring to engineering & application development teams.
- Requires full technical knowledge and thorough understanding of the business application of the project.
- Utilizes and stays current on multiple programming languages and software technologies.
MUST
o Expertise with: Linux RHEL 8.x/9.x, Vsphere v7+, MS Windows server 2012 - 2022, Message Broker (e.g. Solace)
o Experience with HP enterprise-class hardware (DL360/380 Proliant series Gen9/10/10+/11)
o Experience with VMWare ESX Server (vSphere) and Virtual Center (v6.x and 7.x) Experience with AWS EC2 images and Containers, Cloud Watch, Kubernetes, Route53, etc
o Active Directory design and administration. Security agents and policy management
o Advanced knowledge of Windows and Linux-based hardware platforms (e.g., IBM, HP, Dell)
o Thorough understanding of RAID storage and TCP/IP networking
o Able to work in a challenging, fast-paced environment with little daily supervision
o Expected education/experience:
- BS/MS Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, and/or
- Equivalent work experience (Minimum 4 years experience as a Linux, Windows, VMWare, and Solace systems engineer or designer in an enterprise environment)
o Advanced knowledge of Windows and Linux-based scripting facilities
o Perl, C, PHP, VBScript, or Python development skills desired
o Experience with automation and orchestration (ex Rundeck, HPE Image streamer/Composer)
o Experience in a market-data environment is a plus!
o Experience with HP c7000 blade chassis and Synergy frames hardware
o Has created, maintained, and deployed via Automation - Windows and Linux "standard build" images
