The client is a leader in the Semiconductor industry and is the producer of the most advanced lithography equipment in the world. They are a big user of SAP in their systems.

The SAP Platform Engineer (PE) is a key-role in the Generic Application Platform organization and acts on mainly tactical as well strategical level.

The mission is to ensure a robust, reliable and available technical SAP application landscape, based upon technology components as listed in the client system catalog. Assuring the serviceability and maintainability of the owned system landscape and shaping the processes to support those objectives.

The PE owns the technical application landscape and drives the optimization and standardization by designing the landscape, using the client's infrastructure building blocks and adhering to security policies. The PE works closely with internal and external service providers, the Architect, Product Owners within the ART and the business ART's to realize these goals and achieving operational excellence.

This also includes ensuring that the infrastructural roadmap is developed in a sustainable and integral manner. The PE is end-to-end responsible for the delivery of changes and responsible for the RUN/Operations of assigned platforms.

The PE takes full responsibility on the SAP Platform (Run / Continuity / Quality) and take full ownership of end2end delivery of non-standard changes/features across SAP platforms.

Landscape Owner:

  • Identify and define technical application requirements and it's ecosystem(s), including Disaster Recovery and Backup configuration and testing of application / application data
  • Draft, review and own high level technical design documents with optimal use of standard technology (catalog) components
  • Design application integrations/interfaces and identify data streams (e.g. firewall rules)
  • Ensure secure access to environments (e.g. External service providers)
  • Define and supervise technical application life-cycle roadmap and plan for your systems
  • Optimizing life-cycles of individual applications and infrastructure components (whilst minimizing business impact)
  • Control the technical application landscape by supervising (operations done by Service Providers or DevOps Teams)
  • Implement monitoring (end to end) and reporting (technical) of application performance, availability and capacity
  • Participate as 3rd level subject matter expert to identify and solve (high prio) incidents on application landscape (cross team) and advice on actions to be taken
  • Validate root cause analysis provided by external supplier
  • Application landscape security level (patching, security groups, firewall rules, SW security/vulnerabilities, hotfixes, etc.)
  • Correct registration of application landscape components and their relationships within the CMDB
  • Detect critical deficiencies and recommend solutions for improvement
  • Manage delivery of application landscape components according to agreed specifications and quality criteria

Architecture / Integration

  • Architectural mapping of application components during application life cycle to infrastructure based on standard building blocks
  • Ensure compliance with applicable architectural guidelines as well as IT policies (eg security)
  • Help to improve and setup architecture standards
  • Work closely with service providers and architects on designs of new technologies and capabilities, with focus on simplicity

Feature Owner:

  • Take part in the Intake, analysis, design, planning, Go-Live and organize the delivery of the required solutions and features
  • In close communication with the Product Owner about new features and with the Scrum Master about planning and impediments
  • Act as the linking pin between service providers and the IT ART's / Business ART's and advice in delivering projects and changes
  • Verifies the designed solutions with our System Architect
  • Engage with external infrastructure service providers and internal infrastructure providers as well AZURE cloud and BTP experts
  • Ordering of (new/changed) infrastructure services and standard technology components through standard catalog
  • The installation, upgrade and maintenance of applications and its infrastructure
  • Take SAP License management into account before new implementations

MUST
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience on hands on implementation and consultancy work on the following SAP Technologies: SAP Basis, BTP, HANA, GRC, FIORI
  • Security Bridge or comparing experience
  • Certificates and security keys (Linux / SAP)
  • Experience in core programming/development (JAVA, C++, etc)
  • Experience in working in cloud platforms and on-premise system implementations
  • Knowledge of Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) and GDPR is a plus
  • Knowledge of Identity and Access Management systems is a plus
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
