MOPDB (Market Operations Database) is an Oracle data warehouse solution used primarily by the Directorate General Market Operations (DG-M) and Directorate Risk Management (D-RM) to provide information to the decision-making bodies. Since 2008 MOPDB has grown significantly due to the need to accommodate additional reporting and assessment tasks, e.g. to support the expansion of the ECB and Eurosystem's balance sheet or to expand the collateral framework in response to financial and pandemic crises. MOPDB has proven to be a reliable and scalable solution with many critical Market Operations tasks fully relying on its data. Due to the incremental development of the system, where some solutions had to be built under high time pressure, many data loads today are manual tasks, with high operational risks. This project objective is to bring a solution that not only ensures that current processes and achievements are fully automated, but also caters for additional business needs and simplifies the implementation of future changes. One of the biggest challenges of MOPDB maintenance is the constant adaptation to changes in the current and new data sources. To simplify this process, the project will deliver a solution allowing for faster and easier data integration. Moreover, the use of existing shared services (e.g. DISC) will broaden the possibilities for DG-M data analytics for current and future use cases, allowing for easier access to non-technical users.
