Consultant Java Engineer

 GlobalLogic is inviting an experienced Consultant Java Engineer to join our engineering team.

It will be your responsibility to build the strategic software solution for Hitachi. The solution is dedicated to supporting personal modes of transportation through different modes of transport. The assumptions include the following: Be-in/Be-out in many configurations; Pre- and Post- paid transaction or client recognition thanks to Bluetooth or RFID technology. Tech stack: Java, Angular, Azure.

•  The role will perform development activities (conceptualise, design, oversee, code, debug & test) related to the development of large, complex software systems (with high volume data processing) in the public transport and ticketing sector – focusing on the next generation ticketing solutions (e.g. Check-in/Check-out to Be-in/Be-out implementations)
• The role will perform development activities (conceptualise, design, oversee, code, debug & test) in accordance with industry standards and procedures.
• The role will be responsible to deliver software products/services for any given project in accordance with its objectives, key milestones and deliverables.

Main Responsibilities:

• Demonstrable software engineering experience with a proven track record of specification, design and development of complex software in the transport and ticketing sector – with a focus on the next generation ticketing solutions (e.g. Check-in/Check-out to Be-in/Be-out implementations)
• Analyse and compile system, subsystem requirements specifications and design definitions
• Compile use cases for multi-tenant (IaaS/SaaS/PaaS) platform requiring high performance, scalability and availability
• Provide software architecture, cloud and distributed systems expertise and work with internal/external parties to ensure development activities are aligned with scope, schedule, priorities and business objectives
• Complete high and low level technical design specifications, storyboards and interface specifications for the software to be developed
• Design/oversee high level and low level software components, write high-quality software that will perform at scale, be supportable and extensible
• Design, develop and test applications and programs to support the software products
• Design, develop and test software programs, including coding, unit testing and software configuration control
• Provide support of software products through conception to product delivery including problem solving, defect maintenance and operational support
• Maintain deep technical analysis of software designs for all areas including security, software patterns, cloud infrastructure, data modelling, resilience and scalability
• Prepare reports, manuals, procedures and status reports, including, ability to create and review reports, technical documents, test specifications, contracts and proposals
• Share technical expertise within the department and other internal/external parties as requested

•  At least 10 years’ experience in analysis, design, development, procurement, implementation and support of large complex systems (with high volume data processing) 
• Expertise building solutions for public transport with a focus on the next generation ticketing solutions (e.g. Check-in/Check-out to Be-in/Be-out implementations)
• Sound knowledge of Software/System Development Life Cycle (e.g. Waterfall/Agile Methodology) for large and complex systems (with high volume data processing); writing requirements, interface specifications, high and low level technical design specifications, verification & validation, defining test cases and test procedures
• Strong analytical skills to elicit requirements and transform them to software architecture and interfaces
• In-depth, hands-on working knowledge in application (software, web, mobile) development with experience of application, cryptography, cryptanalysis, identity and access management technologies, infrastructure and operational experience
• Strong practical and theoretical knowledge of cloud technologies/solutions – IaaS, PaaS & Saas
• Experience in producing requirements, high and low level design/test documentation
• Experience in developing, releasing and maintaining large scale distributed cloud-based applications with a major cloud provider (e.g. AWS, Azure etc.)
• Hands-on design, coding, integration and deployment experience in enterprise applications – with a focus on the next generation ticketing solutions (e.g. Check-in/Check-out to Be-in/Be-out implementations)
• Experience in any of the following programming languages: C/C++, Java, Python, Go
• Experience in XML, JSON, JavaScript, CSS, HTML etc.
• Experience in exposing web services, such as, JAX-WS/REST
• Experience in Web Service Security (WSS) and PKI infrastructures
• Experience with REST API design and development, Software Containerization and Serverless Computing
• Experience of containerization platforms like Docker and implementing them in a microservices distributed cloud architecture
• Upper-Intermediate level of English or higher (both verbal and written)
