At NAVBLUE we formed our software development teams around a matrixed organization where team members belong to a chapter, in which their skills, competencies and standards are solidified and grown.  They are also members of a Squad where they utilize those skills and competencies to support the squad to be a self-sustaining team able to build and release quality software.  Squads belong to a Tribe, which coordinates and ensures the squad’s focus and output are aligned to support services and solutions for a product or vertical.

As part of a squad you will support all aspects of software development including estimates, design, coding and testing, automation and support of solutions and their deployment process.  Squads support specific services which work together to provide flight operation solutions for airlines to run safe and performant operations.

We are currently looking for: Software Test Specialist  - focus on manual test

The duties of the Software Test Specialist include not only executing test-based activities but also providing guidance to other team members as they execute test-based activities.  They are the resource that other team members can rely on to validate testing strategies, plan appropriate test coverage, and review test implementation.  They will also be involved in non-test activities as the team requires, including story grooming and other Agile practices.

Testing environments can include multiple platforms (Windows, Linux, MacOS, Android, and iOS) and multiple layers of testing (REST and SOAP services, browser-based, other GUI types).  Testing will cover both functional and non-functional requirements.

  • Maintain and extend NAVBLUE's test process documentation.
  • Plan, design, and implement functional tests based on business requirements.
  • Ensure test sets verify SW requirements and functional specifications
  • Design, maintain and extend a variety of test plans, potentially including smoke, sanity, and regression suites
  • Mentor team members on test case design and analysis
  • Perform non-test-related team activities as required
  • Monitor, investigate, and resolve test failures in order to maintain a reliable set of test results

Required Skills/Experience: 

  • Solid software testing experience
  • Experience with business requirements analysis
  • Experience writing and executing test cases
  • Behaviour based testing languages like Gherkin
  • Experience converting business requirements into test plans
  • Test process and strategy development
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Experience with one or more of the following: Windows, Linux, MacOS, Android and iOS


  • Degree or diploma in a relevant field.
